Feng Mao in Koreatown, LA, is a gem for anyone who loves authentic, flavorful BBQ. Their lamb BBQ skewers are a standout, perfectly seasoned and cooked to tender perfection, with just the right balance of smokiness and spice. The ribs are equally impressive, juicy and packed with flavor. Another must-try is their sweet and sour fried pork--crispy, tangy, and utterly satisfying. Their hot corn noodles also deserve a mention, offering a unique and delightful texture. The menu delivers variety and quality, making it a fantastic spot for a delicious meal. Highly recommended!
The one on Wilshire closed but found this same restaurant not too far away. Brought a friend, as we wanted something different than KBBQ. Lamb kebobs are the main thing, so we ordered that, a spicy version, potato, pork belly, buns, and rice. Lamb was delicious, pork belly was small but good, everything else was okay. I'd prob just order lamb and beef kebabs only next time with rice as that was fine. Price seemed high but between two of us, 15 kebabs were filling, with leftovers. Service and owners were great, Parked at night, next door at the bank
This is the only place I go to satisfy my craving for Chinese skewers. The mala lamb and beef are tender and packed with flavor. Use the extra chile cumin seasoning provided for a flavor-packed spiced roller coaster of an experience.
I've love this restaurant since I found it way back in 2015! The lamb kebabs are to die for the people are always super friendly! It helps that I speak a little bit of mandarin lol and it's my little special authentic Chinese spot that I found tucked away in mid city. I lived in China for a few years and I've been craving these lamb kebabs and I have found them here and they are so tasty! A couple other amazing dishes as well. I'll post in the pictures go and support these people eat this yummy delicious food And chill with a cool vibe at a table where the barbecue cook for you!!
I ordered all the different types of beef skewers, and I loved their BBQ, it was perfect with the beer! The service was fast, and the prices were reasonable. It gets super busy, be sure to go early; otherwise, you might have to wait a long time.
My friend wanted to try this place, and I was really intrigued because I had never heard of anything quite like it. We decided to Uber over, but I noticed that parking seems limited to street parking, so keep that in mind. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated for two, and the space is pretty small inside, creating a cozy atmosphere. The ordering process is unique--once you order, they bring the skewers and place them on a rotating grill, which adds a fun touch to the dining experience. Overall, it was a solid experience, and the lamb kebabs were flavorful. However, I found the prices to be a bit high per skewer. Despite that, I enjoyed the meal and would consider coming back to try more items on the menu!
This is my go to spot for beef & lamb skewer craving. I've been here many times before but just as good every time I go back. Every time we went, we sat outside patio area but this time, they removed the outdoor area, which was a bummer. Inside, it's a very small restaurant with only around 6 7 tables. But you wouldn't go to this type of restaurant for a vibe. We ordered the usual, hot noodle, marinated beef and lamb skewer and sweet bread (forgot to take photo) For the first timer, it's a fun interesting experience. They serve the meat on a skewer and you place those skewer on this slotted grille, which cooks it automatically right in front of you. You can either get it marinated or without, and if you get it without, they give you the same spice seasoning as marinated. So if you prefer more milder taste, get it without, as marinated might be slightly salty to some. Spice seasoning is pretty much just salt pepper flakes and star anise. I'm not usually a big fan of lamb, because there are many places that do it wrong but this place does it right. Lamb or beef isn't gamy at all and if plain meat is too boring, you can have it with their spice seasoning. Not fancy but simple good food. Hot noodle is also something you can enjoy as a side. Simple noodle with chilly oil, slightly spicy and salty savory. Again, not fancy but simple good noodle. I'd also recommend getting a sweet bun. They serve it with condense milk to dip in, and it's a very bland dry, almost chalky bread after you toast it in the grille. But fun crunchy texture and sweet desert with the dip. It's a small restaurant but busy. They only had one server and felt bad for her since she was working so hard none stop. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're on a simple protein crave.
Good, solid spot for Chinese bbq skewers. You cook/serve yourself, except for certain dishes like the cumin lamb. Pretty solid spot if you're in the mood for this kinda food. Nothing I'd highly recommend to people but good for what it is. You don't get a lot of Chinese bbq skewers spots, so it's a unique experience
Seasoned lamb and beef skewers on an automatic rotating charcoal grill. First time dining in at this location. We ordered lamb skewers, beef skewers, and the cucumber salad. The skewers take a few minutes to cook so throw on as many skewers as the bottom row allows. Once it's cooked to your liking, transfer them to the top row and throw on more skewers on the bottom row. The seasoning in the lamb and beef is made of cumin and red chili peppers. Not spicy but very flavorful. The cucumber salad added a refreshing contrast in between bites. It was slightly sweet, which I didn't expect. The interior is set up with a ventilator above each table, but you can't really avoid the charcoal smoke smell. All in all, great restaurant for Chinese style lamb skewers in Koreatown.
So much fun!! First skewers experience and it's like another fresh kbbq experience The lamb and beef skewers are really solid value. Lamb was super tender and quite fatty, but great smoky flavors. I wasn't the biggest fan of the marinated beef skewers...I thought it was too sweet for my liking Fried bun w pork and veggies were a hit!! 10 buns for less than less than $20 was solid and the chili sauce on the side complemented the dish so well The seafood pancake was one of my favs--crispy on the bottom with lots of toppings including real pieces of squid, bell peppers, etc. Super big portion too Sautéed onchoy was pretty solid but lots of stems (rather than the nice leaves). Good flavors but quite wet for my liking I will caveat that everything for the most part (especially the skewers) was a bit too salty for my liking, but paired with rice it was not too bad Service was phenomenal and staff were super attentive to our needs We had to wait a bit after arriving late to our reservation and the overall dining area was quite small Overall will definitely come back here again!
